Company description
Emovo Care (www.emovocare.com) develops robotic and software systems for people with motor impairments due to e.g. stroke.
We are a young spin-off from EPFL Switzerland, composed of a small team passionate about leaving a dent.
In addition to restoring function, our purpose is driven by promoting inclusion of people with disabilities, through employment, community and co-creation.
Our first product, Emovo Clinic, is a CE-marked medical device hand exoskeleton for people with limited functions.
Job description
We’re looking for a motivated Mechanical / Robotics Engineer to join our dynamic and hard-working team.
The ideal candidate has very strong engineering and practical experience in mechanical engineering and robotics / electromechanical systems (mechanics, electronics, software), and experience within regulated environments (e.g. medical, automotive, aerospace).
The candidate will work 1st hand (within an engineering team of 3 people) on:
Improvement and maintenance of certified medical device:
Mechanical improvements (e.g. DFM, DFA for low-volume / in-house assembly)
Production (e.g. sourcing, supplier-handling, assembly)
R&D:
Design, development, verification, validation, production of novel concepts, modules, and research devices (e.g. actuation mechanisms, thumb and single-finger modules)
Technical documentation maintenance and creation:
For certified medical device (e.g. design, risk, production)
For new devices (e.g. design briefs, verification reports)
Job requirements
Must have:
Technical Degree, Master’s Degree, or Ph.D. in Robotics / Mechatronics Engineering (or related)
Practical experience with building (design, assemble, test, iterate) real-world mechatronics systems, with focus on mechanical aspects:
CAD: Mechanical (Solidworks, Inventor, similar)
Hands-on: prototyping and manufacturing (3D printing, casting, molding, laser cutting, CNCing), assembly, debugging
Permit to work within European Union/Schengen
Excellent communication skills in English (French, German are a plus)
Great to have (big plus to application!):
Experience with soft-, wearable-, cable-driven robotics, incl. actuation methods (e.g. cables), manufacturing methods and materials (e.g. textiles, silicones)
Experience with commercial electromechanical devices and hardware products, including DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly), production, supplier handling
Experience with electronics (Altium, similar) and software (Python, C++, similar)
Experience in regulated environments - ideally medical (technical documentation, risk management, etc.), and with quality systems (ISO 13485, 9001)
Experience with ergonomics, human factors
